Refreshed Stokes ready for 2024 challenge

A refreshed and refocused Robbie Stokes will tackle the 2024 Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship this year and looms as a possible dark horse.

Stokes will line up as one of the title contenders in his Stokes Motorsport Ford Fiesta AP4 starting with this week’s Otago Rally.

The talented Cantabrian has been tipped a future rally winner and national champion since he burst onto the scene but comes into this year’s championship flying under the radar.

He missed the back end of 2023 after a rough start to the year that was plagued by mechanical trouble.

With time to reset since he was last in the seat and with a new co-driver alongside him in 2024, Stokes could well be one to watch.

“We are really excited to be back in the NZRC after missing the last three rounds of 2023,” he said.

“We have a few changes for 2024, Sarah Brennan will be taking over in the co-drivers’ seat. She’s been committed to putting in the work over the off season in preparation for Rally Otago.

“We also have a new team that has been working hard in the background preparing not one but two cars as Jack [younger brother Jack Stokes] alongside Sarah Faulkner will also be competing in the NZRC in 2024 in the Ford Fiesta R2.”

The Otago Rally begins on Friday with a ceremonial start in the Octagon in Dunedin before two days of competition on the iconic gravel roads south and west of the city.
