Who were the unsung performers at Lone Star Rally Canterbury?
Who were some of the unsung performers at the Lone Star Rally Canterbury? We ask the NZRC team to name their shining stars from the second round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship.
See who they picked and why.
Blair Bartels – Derek Ayson. Any day you are beating Deane Buist is a good day, especially when its his home rally. Just didn’t end well sadly for Derek.
Dale Budge – Quentin Palmer is seriously playing himself into the championship battle by driving within himself and banking a solid haul of points. He has another gear to go to later in the season on roads that he is more familiar with but doing everything right at the moment.
George Bird – Josh Silcock in the Rally Challenge 2WD class was terrific. He had a great battle with Rory Lawn all day.
Darren Galbraith – Josh Silcock for me as well. Spin in the last stage cost him the win but he had to try hard because he was underpowered compared to Rory.
Dave Hedge – I thought Nelson Law put in some times that were better than his seeding suggested. Same with Rory Lawn – faster than that Galbraith guy!
Geoff Ridder – Quentin Palmer for his first time at Canterbury, top five stage times up and down Mt Grey Rd. A quiet achiever even with a wobbly gear lever.
