Who were some of the unsung performers at Rally Hawke’s Bay? We ask the NZRC team to name their shining stars from the fourth round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship.

Blair Bartels – Josh Silcock. Incredible times from a smaller car, especially for a must-finish rally for him.
Dale Budge – Ben Harding had great speed, spurred on by plenty of local fans, which was awesome to see. He made up for missing the last Hawke’s Bay Rally, when he had COVID. Shout out to Roger McKay – you didn’t need to look at the times to see he was a lot quicker.
Simon Bell – Jack Hawkeswood for the mega stage one that stamped his win and made his rivals choke on their coffees. Grant Blackberry as he hustled that big EVO like it was an R5 and lastly, Richard Mason – not NZRC but his and Sara’s results were fantastic and showed they still have it.
Geoff Ridder – Grant Blackberry – for pulling out a blinder on the first stage and getting the big old EVO 10 so close to the Rally 2 cars.
Carl Fenn – Jackson Clendon – good result on his return to the NZRC and for the amount of perspiration at the end of each stage.
Chris Grant – Jack Hawkeswood – Stamped his mark on the rally by winning the first stage by nearly a second a kilometre over his key rivals and then managed that advantage superbly for the rest of the event. Showing great maturity now and is driving with his head rather than his foot.
Matty Hayward – Grant Blackberry for me as well. They were not exactly EVO friendly roads and his effort on the first stage is worth recognition by itself.
