Still buzzing from Otago’s podium finish, Dave Holder is looking forward to the challenge of the roads at this weekend’s Lone Star Rally of Canterbury, the third round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship driven by VINZ. However, like everything in life, Holder knows a solid foundation undergirds success, and that will be the focus this weekend as he continues to develop the relationship with co-driver Ben Hawkins and the Stadium Cars Mitsubishi.

“Without a doubt we’ve got a lot to learn yet. So at the moment we are focusing on creating that whole package, then when the time is right we can push and challenge for rally wins. At this stage though we need to be realistic in our abilities and not get caught up in the hype of results” says Holder.

The team is looking for another solid and consistent performance this weekend, aiming to continue developing so they can really show their speed later in the championship.

The challenge has been to have the car ready with only a three week turn around between rallies. A challenge Mike at Force Automotive has stepped up to putting in a lot of work to have the car sorted for the event.

Saturday night will see Holder take a steady and well illuminated approach into the night stages thanks to fellow competitor Dylan Turner loaning the team some awesome lights. Sunday’s six stages will be on the roads north of Christchurch incorporating both public and private roads, and though the team will be working to develop their skills, there will be a lot of fun to be had.

“Ben and I get on great, and as a result we are having a lot of fun in the car. Enjoying it is definitely a big part for me, it’s where it all started, and I couldn’t imagine anyone better to be doing it with,” enthuses Holder.

Holder knows all about the work that goes into an NZRC challenge, and the support received by the team to make each event. He also acknowledges completing the season will be a mission financially, but is committed to do his best to see that it happens.

“It’s been a fantastic journey so far this year, but there is still a long way to go. So here’s hoping we can pull something out of the hat to make the full season” says Holder. “One thing is certain we will see you at the Lone Star Rally Canterbury ceremonial start, 4.45pm the Palms Mall in Christchurch this Saturday.”

Holder Brothers Racing would like to thank and acknowledge the support of:

Stadium Cars, Gull Fuel, VINZ, Magnum Compliance, Force Automotive, Endless Brakes, Prelim, Sew Hot Monograms, Nichibo, Mount Wheel Alignment, Speedy Signs Tauranga, Attentive Design, Jason Gorton Building, Bay Panel Beaters and Monit Rally Computers.
