Holder gets green light for Wairarapa
With the uncertainty of competing in the fourth round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship (NZRC) driven by VINZ now behind Dave Holder, it is reality and excitement that is now overtaking the team in the lead up to Rally Wairarapa this weekend.
It was always going to be a tough task financially for the team to complete all rounds of the 2014 NZRC, however the great support of all existing partners, especially Stadium Cars, has seen them able to compete with New Zealand’s best this season. “We are always extremely grateful for the support, and feel blessed to be able to make it to Wairarapa” states Holder.
Holder’s podium third at Rally Canterbury, the previous round of the championship, was not without incident, a hiccough with the motor in the final three stages required a rebuild of the engine. “Unfortunately we had an extra expense with the rebuild following Canterbury putting our ability to make it to Wairarapa in doubt. As usual a huge thanks has to go out to Mike at Force Automotive for a massive effort in getting the car ready, and also to Stadium Cars for getting behind us again” says Holder.
With the car ready and the crew pumped the focus now turns to rallying. The team have outlined some specific areas to improve over the coming weekend and learning will again be the focus in favour of taking undue risks with their limited experience.
“Every round we are improving, consolidating, and it’s just a matter of time until I can let loose” says Holder.
Holder is also mindful his mentor Hayden Paddon is competing this weekend in the WRC rally in Poland, wishing him all the best in showing his skills on the World stage.
The Trusthouse Racetech Rally Wairarapa takes in 163.18kms of special stages, kicking off at 7am on Saturday 28th of June.
