Rangiora’s Matt Summerfield will return to the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship at round four, Fuchs Rally Gisborne.

The team suffered a rollover at the previous round, Lone Star Rally Canterbury, but a big effort by the team to rebuild the Castrol Edge Subaru means that they line up to tackle some of New Zealand’s most iconic rallying roads, including the legendary Motu.

With the rules allowing one round to be dropped across the season, Matt and co-driving sister Nicole are still in contention for a strong championship finish, but will be altering their approach to the event to ensure solid haul of points.

With that in mind, the team have paid careful attention to the mechanical components in the car as well as the body work to ensure there are no nasty surprises when the Gisborne event begins.

“I really can’t thank everyone enough that have contributed towards the rebuild, it’s been fantastic to have so many people so keen to get us back on the road,” says Summerfield. “Now we’ve got a bit of an uphill battle ahead of us, we certainly have to finish all of the final three rounds, but we are certainly on track to improve on the fourth place we got in last year’s championship.”

The Fuchs Rally Gisborne runs on June 27, taking in 146 kilometres of demanding special stages north of Gisborne before returning to the host town for the finish at Reads Quay from 5.35 that afternoon.

Matt Summerfield Rallisport would like to acknowledge their sponsors, without whom their 2015 campaign would not be possible: Castrol Edge, Autotech Services, Brita Safety, Clearwater Painting, North Canterbury Energy Centre, The Gearbox Company, Chatterton Builders, Liquorland, I C Frith Insurance Brokers and No Limit Construction.
