Leon Styles provides unique sponsorship to NZRC 

Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship driver and team owner Leon Styles has announced a sponsorship that will bring light on a serious problem in New Zealand – suicide.

Styles will support volunteers in the championship at the final two rounds of this year’s championship – Hyundai NZ Goldrush Rally of Coromandel and Hyundai NZ Raglan Rally of the Coast – as well as continuing the arrangement throughout the entirety of 2019 via his company Leon Styles BOP Retaining Walls, Fences and Decks Ltd.

The Bay of Plenty businessman wants to bring some light on a topic close to his heart by encouraging people to talk about their problems. Styles wants to highlight the impact suicide has on family and friends and has renamed his team “Suicide is not painless. Let’s talk about it” in 2019.

Three Rally New Zealand volunteers will receive $100 gift vouchers per event and will be present these at the prize giving ceremonies. For the 2019 season Styles will also sponsor each round of the championship to the tune of $300 per event for three volunteers ($100 each) and at the end of the championship $2000 will be given to volunteers picked from the year’s recipients – $1000 for first, $500 for second and two $250 prizes.

“It is great what Leon is doing in raising awareness around a social issue that is far too prevalent in New Zealand,” Rally New Zealand Chairman Paul Mallard said.

“We are proud to help Leon get this message across to as many people as possible and support him with what he is trying to do.

“Not only is Leon supporting an extremely worthy cause but he is also helping support rallying and in particular the volunteers of our sport that make everything we do possible.

“This sponsorship is of huge value to the sport.”

Hyundai NZ Goldrush Rally of Coromandel will run on August 18.
