Could we see more Shane van Gisbergen rallying?

Is Supercars ace Shane van Gisbergen primed to do some more rallying in 2021? A radio interview with the Red Bull Ampol racer suggests he might keen.

The 31-year-old, who shocked the rallying world by storming to victory at the Jacks Ridge rally sprint ahead of the best drivers in the country, indicated he was keen to do more on loose metal.

Speaking to The Rock’s Morning Rumble breakfast show, Van Gisbergen said the trans-Tasman travel bubble will make it easier for him to go back and forth this season and could open up the possibility.

“I’ve always wanted to do rallying,” Van Gisbergen said. “[The City of Auckland Rally and Battle of Jacks Ridge] was such a good weekend; playing in the Escort on the rally and then the rally sprint at Jacks Ridge was epic.

“With the borders open now I hope to do some rallying this year, but as far as circuit racing goes, I’m pretty happy in Supercars.”
