The Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship is mourning the loss of two rallying identities in the past few days.

Well known competitor Leon Styles passed away on Wednesday after suffering a brain aneurysm he endured while at home.

Styles was a popular competitor that was renowned for his generosity and friendliness.

Photographer and official Malcolm McLeod passed away on Monday after having a heart-attack while at work.

McLeod had a big personality and was a passionate rally fan, often engaging in social media discussion about the sport.

Championship coordinator Blair Bartels said they would both be missed greatly.

“Our condolences go out to friends and family there,” Bartels said on BB and Budgie’s Thursday Night Recce.

“As a community we are all pretty close and it hit pretty close to home for a lot of us,” Bartels said.

Round two is International Rally of Whangarei next week.
