Pittams eyes chance to shine on local roads

Rally Challenge 4WD competitor Jay Pittams is relishing the chance to take the tight battle in the class to roads he is familiar with at his home event in the Bay of Plenty this weekend.

Pittams sits fifth in his Subaru Impreza in the very deep Rally Challenge 4WD championship heading into the Battery Town Rally Bay of Plenty.

With roads he has competed on many times before, Pittams should see a bit of an advantage compared to what he faced in the first half of the season with three South Island rounds.

“I have done it quite a few times. It is quite an enjoyable rally, especially the Manawahe stage,” Pittams said.

“Tight and twisty

“It has been a good battle down south and we bring it up north and it should be a good battle to the end.”

Drivers score their best three finishes from the first five events plus the final round at Whangarei in November.
